Meaning

The term Erythropoiesis means your body's process of making red blood cells. It involves the transformation and differentiation of a small population of hematopoietic stem cells residing in the bone marrow into mature red blood cells.

Example

There are five stages of Erythropoiesis:

1. Proerythroblast

2. Erythroblast

3. Normoblast

4. Reticulocyte

5. Erythrocyte

Process of Erythropoiesis:

The process of erythropoiesis is that your tissues are deprived of oxygen because your red blood cells are low. In response, your kidneys secrete more EPO. EPO stimulates your bone marrow to make more red blood cells. Your kidneys detect an increase in hemoglobin, the main protein in red blood cells, and secrete less EPO in response.

Sentence

The human body produce 2 million red blood cells every second through the process of erythropoiesis.
