Meaning

Section 406, IPC provides punishment for criminal breach of trust which may extend to imprisonment for 3 years or fine or both.

Example

Punishment for criminal breach of trust: Whoever commits criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine or with both.



For Ex: As IPC 406 crime is cognizable, the victim can register a case at the local police station and lodge an FIR. Police can arrest without a warrant. As it is a non-bailable offense under this section, bail is at the discretion of the court.
