Nipah Virus (NiV) is a zoonotic virus that is transmitted between animals and humans. Nipah virus is caused by fruit bats. Fruit bats, also known as flying foxes, are an animal reservoir for NiV in nature. Nipah virus is known to cause disease in pigs and humans.
