Aksharabhyasam is a Sanskrit term that means starting education or initiation into learning. It is a ritual performed by Hindus before a child enters school for the first time. This ritual is normally carried out on the final day of the Navaratri celebration, known as Vijayadashami, which is considered very fortunate.
