The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, or the Right to Education Act (RTE), is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009. It is the Constitution (Eighty-sixth Amendment) Act, 2002. Article 21-A was added to the Constitution of India to provide free and compulsory education as a fundamental right to all children between the ages of 6-14 in a state-like manner.
